iBookshelf Lite App Reviews

Nice one

Just tested the lite version and it works pretty good. Camera support and barcode scanner would be a great improvement!

Great in theory...

... but rubbish in practice. Would be a convenient app, but each single ISBN I enter is looked up for a minute, an then the app closes itself. Im using an iPhone 3G with most recent os. A barcode scanning option would be great (like RedLaser). So would be the option to import a list of ISBNs. Sorry for only one star, but from my point of view, it just doesnt work at all (yet).

Good library system

I really liked the ISBN look up, it makes it easy to add many books for a large personal library and automaticly uploads covers. Would be nice if it had the option to input where the book is located. I travel beetween 2 cities for work and it would be nice to indicate where a book is located.

Bookworm

I am a bookworm. This is the best app ever! It is totally not like play-crap!!!! Cant wait to buy full version!!!!!

Good, just need a little extra

It is good, but I want to see two improvement before I buy the the full verious. - A spot for location (For I know which bookcase it is located) - ISBN not required (I have many older books that do not have a ISBN)

Neat...but...

Interesting idea, but would be great if I could actually in-app-borrow a friends book. I suppose there are some fundamental problems (copyright etc), but if you limit shared books to online purchased books (which brings up something else), and limit ownership to the original purchaser (eg: the book is automatically returned/deleted/self destructs after x days). This app is sort of like a video-phone. Its a neat idea, but, until all my friends get one, do I really need it? I know which books I own... I dont really need to catalogue my own, unless I want to lend them to a friend... oh, but they dont have an iphone/ipod touch/ipad so how can I share my list? The other thing this brings up is, why not make it possible to in-app-purchase a book (eg from an online digital book source) and download it directly to my iTouch/iphone/ipad.

Y I hate this app

I hate this app because it dose not let u pick the book u want to read and it only gives a couple of books u can read.

Quite helpful, terrible icon.

I find this app quite helpful in keeping track of books that I lend out, which is the primary way I use it. On a purely aesthetic note, the apps icon is extremely poor, and doesnt reflect the quality of the app itself. Looks like a second-rate app on the home screen.

Doesnt work

I have installed this app three times, as it is a great idea. However, it doesnt work. Each time I open it, I am taken to images of what I assume are sample books. No way to access the bookshelf, add books, delete the samples or anything.

Better options

So far the app works great. Only default is that you cant change the order of the books. I have lots of series and it wont let me put them in order! If this could be changed the app would be great!

Wrong synopsis

Barcode reader works well. Identifies correct book and book cover. Wrong synopsis associated with book.

Ads

Every time I tried to do anything with this app, a full page ad popped up trying to sell me a game. Deleted immediately.

Horrible

Full page ads you cant exit from. Every 30 seconds. Delete.

.

App cannot be used due to no close button in the interstitial ad.

good idea but not sufficient

It is hard to find an app which makes the functions of what this app does. But - annoying ads (really really annoying, as if you force us to pay for your app) - interface is so basic - some bugs, - insufficient databases. - there is no option to choose other name/surname or surname/name

Dont bother!

Opened it and ads in your face. Out it goes. No star. I have to rate it one star or review wont post. Trash program.

So excited!

I am loving this app so far. I am a preschool teacher and have tons of books! 4 bookshelves full. I needed an app that could organize my books by many different themes. This app does it in the way of "collections". Its fantastic! If Im looking for some farm books for example, I pull up my farm collection and all the books are there. Id like to see this feature move to the bottom bar or even replace the "read" option (but I know thats for other users). Ive encountered a couple bugs and some ads that I cant figure out how to close- but they disappear after it redirects me to another page. So I just double click and go back to the app. Ive loaded about 300 books so far and have a ways to go but am extremely impressed by how well that scanner works. I can scan 10 books at a time and then save them all in one by one. One suggestion on this part- is when loading the scanned bar codes- I wish it didnt ask to continue loading the scanned codes in between each book. Maybe a button to click yes to all? Overall very happy to find what Ive needed for so long!

Its free but still worthless

Instructions are complicated and convoluted. Big waste of time.

Cant do 2 hard!!

I didnt no wat 2 do I need help!! Make this thing easier I  2 read and having a bookself would be awsome! But idk how 2 work it so fix it!!!

Revised review

This app is great. Bought the full version and works like a charm. The scanner upgrade is slick. Worth the .99 cents extra. It is concise and imports all the data you need from the isbn database for free. Other programs like book crawler does not import genre which is key to sorting books. You have to do that manually with book Crawler. Ibookshelf is automatic and still lets you change it if you want.
